Forest is life

The studies conducted by the researchers of the CARE Forest is Life are very diverse, but they all aim to better understand forests and better manage them.

T

he CARE Forest is life aims to study forest ecosystems and, more generally, landscape structures with a low degree of human disturbances, whether in temperate or tropical regions. The research carried out in this CARE is structured in 4 tasks :

  1. the characterization and monitoring of flora and fauna ;
  2. the dynamics of forest ecosystems ;
  3. the management and development of forest socio-ecosystems ;
  4. the development of woody natural resources and non-timber forest products.

To carry out this work, the CARE relies particularly on "observatory" forests (long-term observation and measurement networks on important geographical rights-of-way) and "laboratory" forests.

The CARE Forest is life aims to be a vibrant hub that offers its members simplified access to diverse field sites, forest monitoring databases, and a range of field and laboratory equipment (see our last activity report). We also host seminars and workshops designed to promote scientific communication and collaboration. Furthermore, we are committed to disseminating research findings across various platforms to maximize their impact.

New member?

Who can become a member of Forest is life ? Any researcher and collaborator working on forest ecosystems and wishing to benefit from CARE's services can become a lifetime member of CARE Forest. The CARE was designed primarily for researchers working at the University of Liège, but is open to anyone working at other institutions.

How do I become a member of Forest is life? Subscribe to the mailing list (see below). Once a year, we’ll send an invitation to fill in a registration form (to update the membership list).

Mailing list

We disseminate information (newsletters, seminar invitations, …) via two mailing lists: one for the staff of the university of Liège and one for the staff of other organizations. Most information is sent to these two lists. The only exception is the invitations to meetings that concern only the staff of the university of Liège.

I work at the university of Liege, how do I subscribe to the mailing list? Click on the following link and fill in the form.
